How the job usually goes
Step 1: Measure and mark
We agree the height and spacing with you, then mark a level line before any drilling.
Step 2: Check the wall
A detector check for cables and pipes, and a test hole to see what the wall is made of.
Step 3: Fix properly
Fixings chosen for the wall and the weight, not just the ones in the box.
Step 4: Hang and adjust
Curtains hung, blinds tested, shelves loaded and checked again with the level.
Good to know. If a TV or a light needs a new socket, spur or cable run, that is electrical installation work for a qualified electrician. We fit the bracket once the power is in place.
Questions about shelves, curtains and blinds
Something else on your mind? Add it to your list and we will answer it when we reply.
“Four shelves and a curtain pole in one visit, every one checked with the level before he packed up. Not a mark left on the walls.”
Can you put a shelf up on plasterboard?
Yes, for light and medium loads with the right cavity fixings. For heavier shelves we find the timber studs or fix through to the masonry behind.
Do I need to buy the curtain pole or blind first?
Yes, please have it ready. If you have not bought it yet, we can tell you which measurements to take so you order the right size.
Can a blind go inside the window recess?
Usually, if the recess is deep enough and the blind clears the window handles. If not, we fit it on the wall above the frame instead.
How do you avoid hitting cables or pipes?
We check the wall with a detector before drilling and avoid the zones where cables usually run, such as directly above and below sockets and switches.
Can you hang a heavy mirror?
Yes. Tell us the size and roughly how heavy it is, and we will bring fixings that suit the weight and the wall.
